Face of the Day #12

A couple of weekends ago, I was invited to my good friend Samantha's wedding reception. I haven't done a Face of the Day post in a while, so I decided to take a few quick pictures of the make up I chose for the evening!

I started by applying Rimmels matte BB cream. I find that this provides a great light coverage that still allows my freckles to be visible, but covers my blemishes. I usually apply this with a brush, as I find it easier to blend than with my fingers. It doesn't have a very creamy texture, it really is like a light foundation.

Over this I added one of my favourite blushes, Bourjois Rose de Jaspe. This is a lovely peachy pink which I find really brings out my blue eyes!  

On my eyes, I used the Iconic 3 palette from Makeup Revolution. At the moment this is my go-to palette. I love the range of shades, and how pigmented they are. It's great fun to use! I finished off my eyes with my favourite mascara, Lancome's Hypnose Drama. I find the wand of this mascara really easy to use, and it definitely gives me dramatic lashes!

Face of the Day #11

This is the other New York Color eye shadow that I was gifted, its called Pink Whisper, and it is a really lovely soft pink. Continuing my current trend of re-using things that I've not bothered with in a while, I teamed this up with another eyeliner that I think either came from a Glossybox, or a SheSaid beauty box.

This is the Eyeko skinny eyeliner pencil in plum, and its really not a colour I would normally use. But I really like the way it contrasts with the pink here.

I've also dug out this sample of Becca lip and cheek tint. This was definitely from a previous Glossybox, and its kind of brilliant. You need the tiniest amount to create a really cute blush effect, so this is genuinely a product that goes on and on!

Face of the Day #10

I've been experimenting a bit more with various eyeliners that I've rediscovered recently, and one of my absolute favourites is this one from Stila. I think I received this ages ago in a Glossybox, and its just been sitting around on my dressing table for ages. The shade is Moray, and its a lovely green with tiny golden sparkles.

Here I've teamed it with the blue shade from the MUA matte pallette, and one of my Revlon Lip Butters (Raspberry Pie) for a lovely autumnal look.

(I look really cranky here because the light was weird and I couldn't get my camera to focus :\)

I'm definitely going to be adding some more of Stila's smudge sticks to my Christmas wishlist! Thanks for reading :) xxx

Face of the Day #9

Hi guys! I've finally gotten around to properly trying out the NYC eye shadows that I was gifted recently. This shade is Tribeca Teal, and it's pretty lovely! This lasted most of the day without a primer, so I was pretty impressed. These shadows are available from Superdrug, but I can't spot this shade on their website.

 I also used my HD Brows blusher, MUA Lash Boom mascara, and MUA Matte lipstick in Pouty Pink.

Face of the Day #8

This is definitely more of an evening look, but I really wanted to try out my new Be a Bombshell eyeliner and HD Brows blusher from September's Glossybox! I also used the green shade from the MUA Smokin Palette.

I started by applying the eyeliner. This stuff is pretty fantastic. It dries super quickly, meaning that you have less chance of smudging it everywhere through impatience/rushing. It's also really easy to apply, and doesn't apply in a smeary way. I've tried felt eyeliners before that just haven't had the pigment and ink to really impress me, but this is almost like using a liquid liner.

I'm also pretty excited to show off the HD Brows blusher. This shade is just absolutely gorgeous, it applies really nicely with the little pad provided, and blends into the skin really well.

This is not a look I would wear to work (bit too eyeliner heavy for that) but I think it works great for an evening out!

Face of the Day #7

I am SO excited about the Smokin palette from MUA. This palette is jam packed full of shades that I absolutely love. This gorgeous molten brown shade, 'Broken' is one of my favourites. It's just subtle enough to wear to work, but could easily be built up to really wow for the evening. I think it's a total bargain for £6.

I have also finally gotten around to experimenting with the other MUA matte lipstick from the haul, Pouty Pink. These are also fantastic value at just £1 each. They are also reeeeeally matte though. My lips tend to suffer in the autumn/winter months so if yours are dry like mine, I'd recommend applying a lip balm before you apply the lipstick.

Overall, I am so happy with the products I bought from MUA, and I absolutely cannot wait for the new Luxe range coming at the end of October! Exciting times ahead for this brand I think :)

Face of the Day #6

I am pretty excited about the new MUA palettes I received, so obviously there had to be Face of the Day posts about them!

Here I have used a shadow from the Matte palette. These apply in a really smokey way, I think you could really create something crazy dramatic with these. For work though, I just used one of the neutrals to create a natural look.

 

 

 I have also experimented with one the new matte lipsticks. This one is Peachy Keen, I did have to apply some lip balm under this because these are seriously matte (and it's autumn, therefore, super dry lips). I love this peachy colour, it's not my usual style, but I think it's pretty cute for daytime.

Face of the Day #5

So this is my first Face of the Day post with my new Look Beauty products! I was super excited to try these out, as I've never used Look Beauty's products before.


Eyes 

Here I have used a shadow from my MUA Dusk til Dawn palette. The mascara is the ooomph lashes volumising mascara, which I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed by. The brush is big, and quite unwieldy. I found it very difficult to actually get any of the mascara to stay on my eye lashes, and I definitely wouldn't say that there was any obvious added volume. I'm glad I got this at sale price, because I'd have been pretty gutted if I'd paid £7 for it.

Lips  

On my lips I used the fat lips lip crayon in Snog. I love these, they are so easy to apply and the colour lasts ages. Once all the product has disappeared from your lips, it leaves a lovely tinted stain behind. I'm really pleased with both of the shades that I've purchased, I'd love to see some more colours in this range!

Face 

On my face I have used the make me blush blusher in Flush. This is a lovely pink shade, and I didn't have to apply a lot to get a nice rosy cheeked look. As I've previously mentioned, I love the packaging of these blushers. I do wish that they came with a little brush though!

Face of the Day #4

Eyeliner is something that I always struggle with. I guess I'm just not very steady handed! I'm forever seeing these super cool tutorials on how to get the perfect flick but I can never seem to get it right.
I really wanted to try out the new Jelly Pong Pong liner I received from the August Glossybox though, so I've decided to get in a bit of practice. This is a brand that I've been wanting to try out for ages but I've either been put off by the prices, or they've been sold out of the items I was interested in.

The liner applies really well, and is really easy to smudge and blend.

Unfortunately I have found that the liner smudges once applied as well, so I would suggest that you keep a mirror handy! I ended up looking quite Panda-like at several points throughout the day. I think this product would probably work better as a shadow.

 

After applying, I used my favourite mascara (Lancome Hypnose Mascara)

I also used my Revlon Candy Apple Lip Butter, and  MUA Shimmer Kisses Blusher to complete the look.

Face of the Day #3

This is look consists of 100% MUA products. Can you tell I'm a fan?


Eyes

The eyeshadow I have used here is a lovely shimmery yellow colour. It's from the Dusk til Dawn palette, which is currently sold out on MUA's website. I don't tend to use this palette an awful lot, as most of the colours are too dark for work. But this yellow colour gets used quite a lot, as you can probably tell from the picture!

The shade I used is the closest shadow, in the bottom row.

The mascara is one of MUA's latest products, Lash Boom. This is a total bargain at £3. I find that it does curl my lashes, but I also find it to be quite clumpy. I have to be very careful how I use the brush. I would say it's probably a medium mascara, in terms of lash curl and lengthening.

 Face


For my cheeks I used another £1 MUA powder blusher, this shade is Bon Bon. Again, as I've previously said, you don't need to use a large amount of product. I just use one finger swipe for each cheek. I love these, when I get paid I'm totally buying some more!

Face of the Day #2

This look is a bit of cheat, because I don't usually wear lipstick/pigmented lip products to work, I find them a bit of a hassle to maintain throughout the day.


Eyes

For my eyeshadow, I used a colour from MUA's Top Model palette. This palette is absolutely jam packed with 28 beautiful eye shadows, a blusher, bronzer, and highlighter. I might properly review this palette on its own at some point. I really like the shimmery shadows, especially in the pastel colours, as I feel like I can wear these to work without them being too dramatic. I have to say, I think this palette is a total bargain for
 £7.

This mascara is my absolute favourite mascara of all time. Seriously. It is most definitely, a BIG mascara. It makes my lashes super long and curled, and it never clumps. I got mine in a past Glossybox, and when this runs out I will definitely be repurchasing this, probably from Feel Unique. You can also purchase it with a super jazzy illustrated outer casing for an extra £1.

Lips

For my lip colour I used a Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter. This shade is Raspberry Pie. It's a much brighter shade than I would usually go for, but I think it suits me. As I mentioned previously, I don't tend to wear lip colour to work, so this was removed shortly after I took these pictures, and it came off really easily, with no staining at all. I purchased my lip butters from Boots for £7.99.

Face

I used a MUA blusher on my cheeks, this shade is called Candyfloss. These blushers are extremely pigmented, I only use one swipe with my finger for each cheek. These are an absolute bargain for £1 each. You can purchase them from MUA's website or from Superdrug stores.
