Recently I've bought...

10 March 2014

This is another new style of post for me, because I've noticed that I seem to be slipping into a rut of mainly posting about beauty related stuff. I do buy clothes too, just not as often. I also find that a lot of the time I don't feel confident enough to get dressed up and prance around in front of a camera, so I've decided to start doing a round up of the clothes that I've bought! This post covers January to the beginning of March, so there will probably be another similar post in a couple of months time.

I bought this gorgeous dress from Oliver Bonas during the January sales, and they actually still have a couple left! It's a really bright electric blue with a super cute cloud design, and even though I bought it back in January, I still haven't worn it out and about. It hasn't really been the right weather for it, but I'm hoping that there will soon be some sunny days when I can wear this teamed with a yellow cardigan.

In February I made my first Sugarhill Boutique purchase! This was mainly brought on by my friend Samantha over at My Lady Boudoir and her adorable bicycle print dress. I'm a big fan of cute prints so I headed straight over to check out the website and fell into the sale section. This sequinned sweater was reduced from £48 to £29, and there are still some sizes available here. Sorry for the creases, I've been a bad blogger and had the jumper hidden away at the bottom of my chest of drawers. It's such a lovely jumper though,  super snuggly and anything with sequins is an instant win for me! I've definitely fallen in love with Sugrahill Boutique too, I'm currently lusting after this amazing zig zag sweater! Want.

I've already written a post mentioning one of these cardigans from H&M which will be up later in the week. I spotted this teal version in my local store and just had to get it! I love the black detailing, I think it adds a really smart edge to the design. And for £14.99, I was pretty hard pushed to not get one of each colour...

My final and most recent purchase is this super cute cardigan from White Stuff. £45 for a cardigan isn't cheap, but I love all the extra details that White Stuff put into their clothing. The buttons are beautifully delicate, the heart pattern is adorable, even the tag in the back has a cute heart charm! This was definitely a treat to myself, as I've had a super stressful couple of weeks and I guess it could count as an early birthday present right? Sure.

What do you think of my recent clothing treats? Would you like to see some more posts like this on the blog?

Librarian Work Wear #8

30 September 2013

It's not very often I wear trousers for a Librarian Work Wear post! But this is just such a comfy yet smart outfit for work, I love it.

The trousers were a bargain in the January sales from Monsoon. I think they were reduced from £40 to £20. I really like this style of trousers for work, however I don't find them very often in the shops.

This shirt is from White Stuff, and unfortunately it isn't available anymore. Anything with a letter print is awesome in my book though.

The cardigan is my latest Modcloth purchase. Everyone who reads this blog should by now know of my love affair with the Charter School Cardigan that Modcloth offers! I couldn't resist grabbing this gorgeous sage green one!

And of course, the whole outfit wouldn't be complete without my trusty brogues from Clarks. These shoes make me feel like an extra from the Great Gatsby!

Librarian Work Wear #6 Pencil Skirt Special!

16 September 2013

This post is sort of three Librarian Work Wear posts in one. I bought these three pencil skirts from Ebay a few weeks ago, as they were a total bargain at £6.99 each. The skirts are lined, and really stretchy so you can walk pretty fast in them.

I love the variety of colours available, I am currently on a quest to procure a yellow pencil skirt. It's harder than it sounds! They seem to be constantly sold out in my size on Ebay :(

Similar colours are available from this seller, but the colours and sizes tend to run out quickly!

Librarian Work Wear #3

26 August 2013

So this is another heavily biased Modcloth outfit! You'll recognise the Orchid cardigan from my first Librarian Work Wear entry.

The Dress

This dress is seriously beautiful! I originally purchased this as my "going away" outfit for after the wedding, but I ended up putting it on after all of my guests had left as well, because I needed to be comfy. Seriously, wedding dresses are heavy. This dress is a gorgeous minty shade, and the biggest bonus is that it has POCKETS! Unfortunately, this dress is no longer available at Modcloth, but the brand is Mink Pink, so you might be able to find it somewhere by searching for the brand.

The Shoes

I got these awesome brogues from Clarks for £54.99. I think that's a bargain, as these shoes will definitely last. They are super comfy, with padding inside to cushion your feet. They also come in less snazzy colours, but I have got my eye on the new Wine Red shade! Perfect for autumn.

I've included some bonus dress shots that I took a few days after writing this, as the weather was really nice!

Cute puppy sold seperately. Bernie says Hi!

POCKETSES. This is my enthusiastic face.

Much more normal.

Librarian Work Wear #1

15 August 2013

So this is my first fashion/outfit-related post! This outfit came from one of my favorite websites, Modcloth. Their clothes are very reasonably priced, but I often have to pay customs fees, so that's something to bear in mind if you decide to buy anything from them!

The Dress

I like to wear dresses to work, especially in summer. However this is a dress that could easily be worn in autumn and spring as well, with some layering. The skirt of the dress is not lined, however it isn't see-through at all. You can buy the dress here for $52.99, it is also available in 3 other colours. I love the navy blue, and the mint is super cute!

Button detail! So cute.

The Cardigan

Modcloth do a whole selection of these cardigans in different colours. I have three, and I am sure they will be regular features in my Librarian Work Wear feature! These cardigans are made from a soft and stretchy material, however I would suggest to size up, as I bought mine in a medium, and after machine washing, they have shrunk slightly. The shade shown here is Orchid. The cardigans are $34.99 each which is not too expensive, but there is the customs fee to consider on top of that!

The Shoes

I absolutely love these shoes from Poetic Licence. They are beautiful! I'm not usually the kind of person to go for heels but these are not too high, and the shoes themselves are super comfortable. They took hardly any wearing in at all. You can find them here for the bargain price of $114.99, and they are also available in black and white. I've had a look to try and find a stockist of these in the UK, but haven't managed it! If anyone manages to find a UK stockist, let me know!
