Wedding Details #4

This weeks post is about hair and make up. This was relatively stress-free for me, as I'm terrible with both, so I knew that I would be looking for people to do it for me!

For my hair, I knew I would want it up, and that I would have a tiara and veil involved. Luckily I have a good friend who is also a hairdresser (cheers Jemma!) who was willing to come to my house and do a trial, and on the day come to my parents house and make my hair gorgeous!

I spent quite a long time scouring the internet looking for bridal make up artists. Make up is a very personal thing, and I knew that I wanted my make up to be very natural, nothing too over the top. Eventually, I stumbled across Emma's website. If you scroll through her bridal gallery, you'll see why I chose her! All of her brides look natural and radiant. Emma herself is extremely friendly, I was quite nervous about having a trial done, but she put me at ease and was really bubbly! She was great fun to have around on the day as well, and I would 100% recommend her to any Cambridgeshire brides. She also does make up lessons (for people who are marrying abroad) and make up for proms.

Sleek Blush in Antique

As soon as I spotted the Vintage Romance collection from Sleek, I was hooked. I managed to get my paws on the eyeshadow palette which I freaking love, and I've had the blush for ages and have only just gotten around to reviewing it.

This is a lovely dusky pink colour, with a shimmery mix. I actually find that its slightly too shimmery for me. I tried to use this the other day for a Face of the Day post, but I applied a little bit too much and I felt that it was too glittery for work! I think smaller amounts are key here.

The packaging is pretty robust, I dropped the bag with this in on my way back to work and instantly thought that the blush would have cracked and broken, but it was all still intact! I love the little mirror, and the design on the outside of the box looks really high end, even though this was a bit of a bargain at £4.49.

 

I will definitely be keeping my eye out for further new releases from Sleek! Have you tried the Vintage Romance collection from Sleek?

Collection Does it All Mascara

This is the final product from my recent Superdrug haul! I mainly bought this because I really liked the packaging. I love the purple and yellow together, and the funky comic strip font! It kind of reminds me of Watchmen.

I wasn't really expecting much from this mascara, as it was kind of a grab and run purchase, but I've been really pleasantly surprised by it. It really defines and lifts my eyelashes, and the wand is great for grabbing those pesky small lashes at the corner of your eye.

I find that this dries really quickly, which is a must for me because otherwise it would smear all over my glasses, and is pretty easy to remove. This was £3.99 from Superdrug.

Face of the Day #11

This is the other New York Color eye shadow that I was gifted, its called Pink Whisper, and it is a really lovely soft pink. Continuing my current trend of re-using things that I've not bothered with in a while, I teamed this up with another eyeliner that I think either came from a Glossybox, or a SheSaid beauty box.

This is the Eyeko skinny eyeliner pencil in plum, and its really not a colour I would normally use. But I really like the way it contrasts with the pink here.

I've also dug out this sample of Becca lip and cheek tint. This was definitely from a previous Glossybox, and its kind of brilliant. You need the tiniest amount to create a really cute blush effect, so this is genuinely a product that goes on and on!

Face of the Day #10

I've been experimenting a bit more with various eyeliners that I've rediscovered recently, and one of my absolute favourites is this one from Stila. I think I received this ages ago in a Glossybox, and its just been sitting around on my dressing table for ages. The shade is Moray, and its a lovely green with tiny golden sparkles.

Here I've teamed it with the blue shade from the MUA matte pallette, and one of my Revlon Lip Butters (Raspberry Pie) for a lovely autumnal look.

(I look really cranky here because the light was weird and I couldn't get my camera to focus :\)

I'm definitely going to be adding some more of Stila's smudge sticks to my Christmas wishlist! Thanks for reading :) xxx

E.L.F. Haul

Since liking E.L.F. on Facebook, I've noticed that they've been having quite a few flash sales with codes for free shipping or 50% off everything. I managed to nab some goodies during the 50% off everything weekend deal, and I'm pretty pleased with what I've got!

Big box of goodies!

I'm going to start with the lip products! I might have gone a little bit crazy with these...

 I love the look of these liquid lipsticks! The texture is sort of like a gloss, but quite creamy. I made a bit of a mess swatching these, as they're the kind that needs twisting to get the product, so inevitably I twisted too many times and ended up with lipstick everywhere. 

 

 

 

The jumbo lip gloss sticks are quite fun too. They apply as a sort of tinted gloss, but they're really buildable too. I had to use a few strokes to get these swatches as bright as this. I also bought the Super Glossy Lip Shines which smell fantastic, and the Mineral Moisturizing Lip Tint which applies in a really cute pale pink shade.

 

I managed to not go as crazy with eye products, although I still got quite a few.

This is a swatch of the eyeshadow, it's a bit more matte than I thought it would be, but I still really like the shades together. I'm interested to see how these last without a primer!

I think the jumbo eyeshadow sticks are probably my favourite item from this haul! I love the shimmery shades, and I'm really tempted to buy the rest of the range now! I think these will need a primer, because they're so creamy. I've also got a swatch of the mineral eye liner in Ash. I wanted to get the coffee brown shade but unfortunately it was sold out, so I nabbed this instead. I'm pretty happy with it. It doesn't seem like it needs a heavy hand application-wise. I also bought the Lash Extending Mascara to try out.

And finally, I managed to limit myself to just two blushers!

Headliner is a liquid blush, which is not my usual choice. I tend to prefer powders. I think I will only need a tiny amount of this, its really pigmented, and quite creamy. The All Over Cover Stick in Pink Lemonade is meant to used as an all purpose product, but I think I will mainly use it as a blush. This is a kind of solid cream blush, and it's a really gorgeous dusky pink. I'm looking forward to breaking this out in the next couple of days!

Face of the Day #8

This is definitely more of an evening look, but I really wanted to try out my new Be a Bombshell eyeliner and HD Brows blusher from September's Glossybox! I also used the green shade from the MUA Smokin Palette.

I started by applying the eyeliner. This stuff is pretty fantastic. It dries super quickly, meaning that you have less chance of smudging it everywhere through impatience/rushing. It's also really easy to apply, and doesn't apply in a smeary way. I've tried felt eyeliners before that just haven't had the pigment and ink to really impress me, but this is almost like using a liquid liner.

I'm also pretty excited to show off the HD Brows blusher. This shade is just absolutely gorgeous, it applies really nicely with the little pad provided, and blends into the skin really well.

This is not a look I would wear to work (bit too eyeliner heavy for that) but I think it works great for an evening out!

Face of the Day #6

I am pretty excited about the new MUA palettes I received, so obviously there had to be Face of the Day posts about them!

Here I have used a shadow from the Matte palette. These apply in a really smokey way, I think you could really create something crazy dramatic with these. For work though, I just used one of the neutrals to create a natural look.

 

 

 I have also experimented with one the new matte lipsticks. This one is Peachy Keen, I did have to apply some lip balm under this because these are seriously matte (and it's autumn, therefore, super dry lips). I love this peachy colour, it's not my usual style, but I think it's pretty cute for daytime.

Face of the Day #5

So this is my first Face of the Day post with my new Look Beauty products! I was super excited to try these out, as I've never used Look Beauty's products before.


Eyes 

Here I have used a shadow from my MUA Dusk til Dawn palette. The mascara is the ooomph lashes volumising mascara, which I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed by. The brush is big, and quite unwieldy. I found it very difficult to actually get any of the mascara to stay on my eye lashes, and I definitely wouldn't say that there was any obvious added volume. I'm glad I got this at sale price, because I'd have been pretty gutted if I'd paid £7 for it.

Lips  

On my lips I used the fat lips lip crayon in Snog. I love these, they are so easy to apply and the colour lasts ages. Once all the product has disappeared from your lips, it leaves a lovely tinted stain behind. I'm really pleased with both of the shades that I've purchased, I'd love to see some more colours in this range!

Face 

On my face I have used the make me blush blusher in Flush. This is a lovely pink shade, and I didn't have to apply a lot to get a nice rosy cheeked look. As I've previously mentioned, I love the packaging of these blushers. I do wish that they came with a little brush though!

Sleek Pout Paints

Today's review is a product I received in the July Glossybox. The Pout Paints are designed to be used both individually, mixed together, or mixed with other lip products to create new colours. Here I have only used them as individual colours, I haven't gotten round to testing them with other lip products!

Pictured below is the pink coloured Pout Paint. As you can see, it's not seriously pigmented, but I only applied a small amount, as directed by the packaging. I think you could definitely apply more and build up the colour. The paint applies with a similar texture to lipgloss, but doesn't feel as sticky.

This is the white coloured paint, which I was a bit nervous about! I thought it would come out the same colour as it appears in the tube, but it's actually a really nice clear gloss. I'm not sure whether these would be particularly nourishing, or about their longevity, but I think they're quite fun.

Face of the Day #3

This is look consists of 100% MUA products. Can you tell I'm a fan?


Eyes

The eyeshadow I have used here is a lovely shimmery yellow colour. It's from the Dusk til Dawn palette, which is currently sold out on MUA's website. I don't tend to use this palette an awful lot, as most of the colours are too dark for work. But this yellow colour gets used quite a lot, as you can probably tell from the picture!

The shade I used is the closest shadow, in the bottom row.

The mascara is one of MUA's latest products, Lash Boom. This is a total bargain at £3. I find that it does curl my lashes, but I also find it to be quite clumpy. I have to be very careful how I use the brush. I would say it's probably a medium mascara, in terms of lash curl and lengthening.

 Face


For my cheeks I used another £1 MUA powder blusher, this shade is Bon Bon. Again, as I've previously said, you don't need to use a large amount of product. I just use one finger swipe for each cheek. I love these, when I get paid I'm totally buying some more!
