Bourjois Goodies!

11 December 2013

I've had this selection of goodies sitting around for a while, because I bought them just before I got sick. Boots were running a promotion with Bourjois which offered a free make up set worth £29 if you spent £15 on Bourjois make up. I've never owned any Bourjois stuff before, despite lusting after the adorable little pots of blusher and eye shadow, so I decided to get stuck in!

I picked up the Color Boost lip crayon in Plum Russian and one of the cute little blushers in Jasper Rose. The blush is a lovely peachy pink, which works well with my pale skin. I love the little brush that comes with it! Very cute. Also, I'm not sure if it's just me but this blush seemed to be lightly scented. Sort of vanilla-y?

And because I'm currently obsessed with lip crayons and berry shades (along with everyone else this winter!) I had to grab this! It's more glossy than I thought it would be, and the colour is gorgeous. Very wearable for daytime and into the evening. I didn't notice that this had any particular flavour, and I've not tried it out enough to get a feel for how moisturising it is.

Swatches!

Onto the freebies! The set included a Smoky Eyes mini palette, 3D effect lip gloss, a mascara and a nail polish. Altogether, these are meant to give you the ultimate glam holiday look. I haven't tried them all on together, but I've given them a go individually.

I was intrigued by the gloss, as I was expecting it to have the standard rounded applicator, but it actually has a tiny brush. I'm not sure how I feel about the brush really. It does help to get the gloss precisely where you want it for outlining, but it also smears the gloss when you apply it onto the inner part of your lips. It's incredibly pigmented though, and I could definitely see myself using it at christmas parties.

This trio of eye shadows is great. It definitely does what it says on the tin! I was really surprised when swatching these to see just how smoky they really are. My favourite shade out of the three is probably the middle one, and I'm quite keen to experiment with all of these for the ultimate smoky eye!

I've got to admit, I was apprehensive about this mascara. When I saw the size of the brush, I thought I was going to have trouble. I don't know why I can't get on with the bigger brushes, I just always seem to stab myself in the eye more frequently! But I was pleasantly surprised. The mascara applies quite well, and definitely gave my lashes some added volume. I'm not quite sure it's replaced my beloved Lancome though!

And finally, this lovely red polish! I'm hoping to crack this open for a nails of the day post in the next couple of weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for that. You can't beat red nails at christmas!

Did you take up Boots on this offer? Do you like Bourjois make up?

Face of the Day #5

14 September 2013

So this is my first Face of the Day post with my new Look Beauty products! I was super excited to try these out, as I've never used Look Beauty's products before.

Eyes

Here I have used a shadow from my MUA Dusk til Dawn palette. The mascara is the ooomph lashes volumising mascara, which I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed by. The brush is big, and quite unwieldy. I found it very difficult to actually get any of the mascara to stay on my eye lashes, and I definitely wouldn't say that there was any obvious added volume. I'm glad I got this at sale price, because I'd have been pretty gutted if I'd paid £7 for it.

Lips

On my lips I used the fat lips lip crayon in Snog. I love these, they are so easy to apply and the colour lasts ages. Once all the product has disappeared from your lips, it leaves a lovely tinted stain behind. I'm really pleased with both of the shades that I've purchased, I'd love to see some more colours in this range!

Face

On my face I have used the make me blush blusher in Flush. This is a lovely pink shade, and I didn't have to apply a lot to get a nice rosy cheeked look. As I've previously mentioned, I love the packaging of these blushers. I do wish that they came with a little brush though!

Please excuse the dazed expression, I took these photos before I went to work!

Thanks for reading :) xxx

Look Beauty Haul

12 September 2013

I'd not heard about Look Beauty before I spotted that they were having a massive half price sale on another blog, so I decided to head on over and have a nose. Unsurprisingly, I ended up spending £25 and came away with this little lot!

Nail Pop! polishes

I've wanted a new top coat for ages, so I decided to nab Look Beauty's to try out. The blue shade is called 'Vintage', and the purple is 'Grape Juice'.

Oomph Lashes! mascara

I haven't tried this out yet, but I'm hoping to do a Face of the Day post with it in the next few days.

These look totally gorgeous and I'm really excited to try them! I've been looking for some lip crayons for a while, but the majority seem to be mint flavoured, which I'm not keen on. These are flavour free, and the colour seems to really glide on.

I was really impressed with the packaging on these blushers, they're totally stunning. The compacts look expensive and high end, and I love that they come with a mirror.

I will be doing a Face of the Day post with some of these lovelies at some point, and a couple of Nails of the Day posts as well! So keep your beady eyes peeled for those.

 Thanks for reading :) xxx
