Glossybox - April and May 2014

I seriously have a beauty box problem. I had an email from Glossybox a couple of days ago offering the coveted May box along with a free box if I subscribed for three months. So here I am, I've been suckered back in to Glossybox for the next 3 months!

The free box turned out to be the April box which not many people were impressed by, and I can see why. The box looks empty when you open it, and the products inside really aren't all that impressive. The Monu massage oil will probably come in handy, as I will do anything for a back rub and the ginger scent is quite nice. 

I'm pretty disappointed by the MeMeMe highlighter. I'm not really into them as a brand, I tried a tint from them before and really didn't like it, so this will be going straight in the up for grabs album! 

Dry shampoos aren't really my thing either, so this will probably also end up being given away, along with this lip brush from Emite. I already have plenty of brushes so this isn't something that I really need. 

 

The Unica cream is something that I am willing to try, but it's such a small sample I'm not sure I'll get much of an idea of how good the cream is for my skin. 

Now that the most disappointing bit is over, onto the May box. This box is a collaboration with Superdrug as it's their 50th birthday this year. I've seen a lot of really good boxes on various blogs so I was quite excited to see what I would get in mine!

To get the bad stuff out of the way, the bronzer. Not my kind of thing at all. I tend to stick with just being pale all year round as I just can't be bothered with fake tan, so this will be given away.

I'm also less than impressed with this nail candy thing. Nail art is something that I've just never managed to get my head around, but I know plenty of people who do it and are actually good at it so I'm sure I'll be able to fling this in their direction!

Another set of false eyelashes for my collection that will sadly never get used. I've just never managed to get the hang of these but hopefully someone I know will be able to give them a good home. 

Finally, something I can actually keep! I love Simple and I hadn't realised that this was a product that Glossybox were including in the May boxes, so this was a really good surprise! I can't wait to try it out.

We also received a full size lipstick from B. I got the shade Petal, and it's a lovely soft pink and promises to be moisturising as well so it sounds perfect for me.

There were also two bonuses in the box in the form of a sample of Ghost's fragrance and a sachet of Garnier's body oil. The perfume smells really nice, it's got some lovely fruity tones to it which I love so I'll be keeping this! I've also heard a lot of good things about this body oil and it's a really decent sized sachet so I'm pretty pleased with it.

Overall, I feel like I haven't received amazing boxes from Glossybox. These definitely haven't convinced me to carry on with my subscription after my 3 month-stint ends, but I'm quite excited to see what the June and July boxes hold! 

Love Me Beauty Box - March 2014

When I first saw the menus for this month's Love Me Beauty box, I was a little bit disappointed. All of the options this time around included false eyelashes (which I don't use) and toothpaste (I have to use a special toothpaste as I have sensitive teeth). Since I've received the box though, I've been pleasantly surprised.

Obviously, the toothpaste and I were never going to get along. I think this is a decent sized sample though, and I definitely think that you would get enough uses out of it to find out whether its claims of super shiny smiles are true. This will be finding its way into my up for grabs album on Facebook though.

 
 The false eyelashes were also not my kind of thing unfortunately. They look like a really decent product though, they're reusable and the lashes themselves aren't ridiculously over the top. You could probably wear these during the day and not look too 'done up'. These retail for £6, but will be joining the toothpaste in my up for grabs album too!

 
We also received this Deep Steep foot stick. This is a kind of solid balm for feet which melts upon contact with skin. It's got a really strong minty scent which I'm not too keen on, but if it's going on my feet then it's not going to be too near my face, so I guess I can live with it. This is a full-size product which retails for around £5. 

 
 Also in this months box were these lovely bath salts. The option that I chose came with the 'Vintage Bouquet' scent, which is a blend of Bergamot and Geranium, and smells absolutely divine. I'm not normally one for floral scents so I was really surprised to find that I loved the smell of these. I actually can't wait to have a bath now! There are also little pieces of dried flowers in the sachet as well. I'm not sure I'll be putting those in the tub with me though.

 Each of the boxes this month featured a product from Murad as well. The option I chose came with this Pomegranate exfoliating face mask. Face masks are not something that I use regularly, but I love the idea of this being fruity smelling. I've not opened the sachet yet as I'm saving it for after my lovely floral bath, but I will definitely be letting you know how I get on with it.

 
Finally, the star product of the box for me is this Viper Venom Eye Fix from Nip + Fab. This is full-size and retails for £14.95. This claims to target dark under eye circles and fine lines in the eye area. I've had a quick go with this, and it feels absolutely lovely when you apply it. There is an instant cooling feeling and my eyes definitely felt refreshed. Overall, very pleased to see this in the box!

 
So that's my round up of the March Love Me Beauty box. I haven't been as impressed this month as I have been previously, as there were a couple of items in the box that I won't be using. However, the items in the box that I will be using look fantastic and I can't wait to start testing them out! Hopefully this has just been a bit of blip and April will see Love Me Beauty back on top form.

September 2013 Glossybox - The London Edition

Well, I am seriously impressed. This months Glossybox has completely bowled me over with it's awesomeness. I've only recently resubscribed, and I got this box with the Glossydots I had previously collected. I can't believe how lucky I've been to get this box for free, and you'll all soon see why!

  

Starting with the items I am least likely to get a lot of use out of, the Eylure Pre-glued Lashes. I've never tried false lashes before, so I'm not really sure when these are going to get used! I might have a go with them at some point, they might be good to save for Halloween!

The Toni & Guy Classic Shine and Gloss Serum is another product that I'm not sure if I'll use. It says to apply to dry hair and I can just see it making my hair a bit sticky. I'll maybe have to give it a go on a weekend when I'm not going anywhere to see how it turns out!

The next product is the Elizabeth Arden Untold fragrance. I love that this comes in a cute little bottle. It will look lovely on my dressing table. I really like the scent, it has a very fresh day time feel to it. Obviously perfume is a very personal thing, but I don't think many people will dislike this.

This is where things start to pick up a bit for me, with the Be a Bombshell Onyx Eyeliner. I've used an eyeliner like this before and it didn't really work very well, so I'm looking forward to trying this one out to see whether its any good! I like that the nib is shaped so that you can really experiment with the thickness of the line, very handy!

And finally, saving the best for last, the HD Brows blusher. This, for me, is amazing. I love the colour and packaging of this blusher, it really is quality. It will definitely get a LOT of use. Very impressed with Glossybox for including an item that costs more than the overall cost of the box as well.

 

Overall, I am so impressed with this months box. The packaging is gorgeous, especially the cute paper inside the box, and the products do not disappoint with their variety, quantity and quality! October's box should be interesting, Glossybox are going to have to work really hard to top this one!
