Nails of the Day #5

30 December 2013

There's nothing like a sparkly nail polish for new years! I've been loving the look of the new Barry M Royal Textured Glitter Collection, so I decided to pick up Gold Majesty in Superdrug during their 3 for 2 sale.

I'm pretty much in love with this polish. Not only is it a great shade with plenty of sparkle, it's super strong too. I've had this on for two days now, without a top or base coat, and it hasn't chipped at all. I'm very impressed. I've certainly got my eye on a couple of other shades in this range. Purple Duchess and White Pearl look fantastic, I might just have to nab these next time I'm in town. The polishes are £3.99 each, and Gold Majesty is available here.

Nails of the Day #4

16 November 2013

NYC have a new range of top coats, which I happened to spot a while back in Superdrug. The Rock Muse Smoky top coats come in a range of shades, to add an extra smoky shimmer to your polishes! I picked up Green Day, because I'm a sucker for green glitter.

I had to think for quite a bit over what shade to pair this up with, and eventually settled on Barry M's Gelly Nail Paint in Watermelon.

I only used one coat of the Watermelon, and I think if I was going to do this look again, I'd use two. I was a bit worried about the top coat not showing up much if the base was too dark, but the glitter makes it stand out quite nicely. There are some quite chunky bits of glitter mixed in with smaller bits in this polish, which makes me wonder whether it will last as a top coat, as I always seem to chip off big pieces of glitter pretty easily. I love the look this creates though, even on it's own this top coat could be quite a fun polish.

The Rock Muse top coats are £1.99 each, and are available from Superdrug. I could only find the black shade on their website, but you can check out the other colours available here.

Nails of the Day #3

30 October 2013

As promised, here are my nails modelling the gorgeous New York Color nail polish that was gifted to me by Pippa!

The picture shows the polish after two coats and a top coat. It dries quicker than most nail polishes I own, which I was quite impressed by. I'm never really sure whether to believe these claims about super quick drying times.

I'd love to try some of the other colours in this range, and for £1.79 each, why not?!

Nails of the Day #2

03 October 2013

These polishes were a part of my Look Beauty haul, and I couldn't wait to try them out!

Grape Juice and Vintage
I also used the top coat from Look Beauty here, and I'm really impressed with it. It's definitely been an improvement on the one I was using.

I love the mint green and the purple together, although I think that now we're heading into Autumn, the purple will probably get used more often!

The polishes are available here for £2.50 or from Superdrug, for £5 each.

Nails of the Day #1 Essie Sleek Sticks

10 September 2013

So this is my first Nails of the Day post! I don't tend to paint my nails very often as they chip really easily at work. I really need a better topcoat. However, the product I'm reviewing today isn't nail polish! It's the super snazzy Essie Sleek Sticks which I received in my July Glossybox. I was a bit sceptical about these initially, as I've tried to use a similar product before and found myself flailing about all over the place.

I have to say, I found these much easier to use than I thought they would be. Clearly, my application is not fantastic, as demonstrated by the above picture, but this is definitely something that you would get better at with practise. The stickers come in many different sizes, so you pick the size that most closely matches your nail, and then stick it down. Using the file provided, you file the extra sticker off, leaving a nicely finished manicure style nail design. I did find that it was particularly tricky to file around the bubbly bits, as those didn't really want to separate.

These would be ideal for a night out, but I can't say I could see them lasting much longer than that. They seemed to peel off quite easily, but maybe if you used a topcoat it might help to keep them a bit longer.

I really loved the little sparkly bubble details on these, and would probably purchase them for a night out! You can purchase the Sleek Sticks here for $10.25.

Thanks for reading :) xxx
