Afternoon Walk

 

During a break in the horrible wet and windy weather we're currently experiencing in the UK, I decided to nip out and grab a few quick photos of one of my recent sale purchases from White Stuff.

 

 

 

 

 

This is the Sweetheart Dress, and I absolutely adore it! It's made from a lovely soft jersey, and I love the leafy patterns. Here I've teamed it with one of my trusty Modcloth cardigans, and a rather fetching pair of wellies!

 

 

 

I was really pleased to get a few shots of these winter berries as well! Lovely to see a bit of colour, everything else is so brown at the moment. Roll on spring!

 

 



Librarian Work Wear #11

This is a bit of a cheat, because at the moment it's too dark to take photos before I go to work, and by the time I get home its too dark to take them then as well! But I have been wearing this dress to work, so I convinced the husband to take some pictures while we were out walking Bernie. Naturally, it turned out to be a really cold and wet day.

I don't even know what Bernie's doing here.

This dress is the Coach Tour Dress in sea blue, from Modcloth. I've wanted one of the Coach Tour Dresses for so long, and when it came out in this gorgeous teal colour, I had to have it! The material is quite warm, although I was pretty chilly without a coat. It's great to layer though! I just chucked a primark top on underneath to keep myself a little bit warmer.

 

 

 

Once I got the camera back from Luke, I decided to snap a few more shots. It was raining though, so the camera didn't stay out for long!

Wedding Details #3

Today's post is going to be about the dress (pretty important) and accessories.

I knew that my budget for my dress was going to be around £1000. Some people will think thats a hell of a lot of money (it is, I know) and some poeple will think that its nowhere near enough. I googled a lot of wedding dress websites to try and get an idea of what I wanted, and Sincerity Bridal seemed to have a lot of designs that I loved, and wouldn't break the bank. Before I'd even visited a bridal shop, I had my heart set on this design. The nearest stockist was in Colchester, so I booked an appointment and drove down with my mum.

I think we were both really nervous about the dress shopping experience, neither of us really knew what to expect! But if you go to a really good salon, they know how to make you feel comfortable. We went to Hilary B and they were fantastic. I tried on the dress that I had set my heart on first, and more or less thought I'd found my wedding dress! I tried on about 9 others, and ended up torn between my first choice, and this design. In the end, I went with the second option. I loved the way it cinched in my waist and had a full skirt but didn't look meringuey on me. I'm very short so I was really worried about all of the dresses looking awful on me, but they ordered my dress in a shorter length than the standard.

I wasn't going to wear a tiara originally, or a veil, but the bridal shop let me try them on with my dress and I was sold instantly. The tiara is only a very thin amount of crystals and beads, nothing too over the top, which was perfect for me. The veil was elbow length with small pearl-like beads scattered throughout to add a bit of shimmer.

In the run up to the day, we weren't sure what the weather was going to do. It rained all week, and I really thought that we were going to have to have the ceremony inside (BOO), but on the day it was lovely and sunny. I still managed to buy a cream shrug from Ebay just in case it got too chilly, and it turned out to be helpful on the day. I wouldn't recommend leaving this until the last minute like I did though! Never has a package been so eagerly waited for!

I knew that on the day I wouldn't want to wear heels. While I am really short, I just find heels to be so uncomfortable, and in the end, I was glad I went with flats. Wedding dresses are heavy and make your hips ache like crazy, having your hair up is uncomfortable, and having sore feet as well would have been awful! I ordered these cute blue shoes from Modcloth (no longer available) and I still wear them to work now. They're probably the only item of wedding wear that I still get regular use out of!

Seriously. Do not underestimate the heaviness.

I honestly think I was really lucky to find my dress in the first shop I visited, I know thats not the case for everyone! But I really did find it to be the least stressful part of wedding planning. If you're planning a wedding, have you found your dress yet? I'd love to see some pictures! 

Halloween in Cambridge

This is kind of a random Librarian Work Wear/Face of the Day/Photography bundle. Obviously I wanted to wear something Halloween and work appropriate, so I went for this dress from my trusty Modcloth. Apologies for the blurry photos, the light has been pretty awful for photos today!

The cardigan is also a Modcloth special! The tights are from Primark, and the shoes are from Clarks.

I have loads of these necklaces from a seller on Etsy, who unfortunately doesn't make them anymore. They're made from resin and are too cute! I thought Elphaba might fancy a trip out on Halloween.

Make up wise, I went for one of the golden shadows from my new Sleek Vintage Romance palette, and the Antique blush. I later teamed it up with the Wild Berry matte lipstick from MUA, but didn't get any photos! I did however, get some lovely autumnal photos from around Cambridge today, so enjoy!

Librarian Work Wear #10

I've recently bought myself a new dress from Modcloth. I haven't been buying things from them as much recently because of customs prices being so high and being poor after paying for a wedding. But I spotted this dress on the site about 3 weeks ago and just had to order it!

This is the A Pebble's Throw Dress. I absolutely love the gorgeous blue detailing.

I've teamed it up with the Charter School Cardigan  in Honey, the Shoeful of Sugar heels, and my new tights from Primark.

These tights are brilliant. It's a shame they're so thin though! I'm really worried about snagging them.

I think this is probably my favourite Librarian Work Wear post yet! Now I'm off to go and look at some more dresses...

Librarian Work Wear #9

More autumny dress goodness! You will have noticed by now that the majority of my Librarian Work Wear posts are dress based. This is because I have a serious addiction, and my bank account is always suffering from my spontaneous dress purchases. Not to mention my wardrobe space. This dress is another Modcloth favourite, and I actually bought this originally to wear for my engagement shoot. It ended up being so cold that I had to wear a massive coat, so it's not really visible in the pictures, but I still love it.

I think the buttons down the side are the best thing about this dress. They don't actually function as buttons, they are just stitched on for decoration. You can buy the dress here for $44.99.

I'm also enjoying being able to get my boots out! I bought these last year from ebay, the brand is Poetic Licence. These took some serious breaking in and they completely crippled my feet at first, which meant that I didn't really get to wear them much last year. This year, I'm going to get my moneys worth out of them for sure! I love the detail on the side of the boots, just adds a little bit of extra interest. I'm currently lusting after these amazing boots from Poetic Licence. Love the purple!

Librarian Work Wear #8

It's not very often I wear trousers for a Librarian Work Wear post! But this is just such a comfy yet smart outfit for work, I love it.

The trousers were a bargain in the January sales from Monsoon. I think they were reduced from £40 to £20. I really like this style of trousers for work, however I don't find them very often in the shops.

This shirt is from White Stuff, and unfortunately it isn't available anymore. Anything with a letter print is awesome in my book though.

The cardigan is my latest Modcloth purchase. Everyone who reads this blog should by now know of my love affair with the Charter School Cardigan that Modcloth offers! I couldn't resist grabbing this gorgeous sage green one!

And of course, the whole outfit wouldn't be complete without my trusty brogues from Clarks. These shoes make me feel like an extra from the Great Gatsby!

Librarian Work Wear #7

Now that autumn is fast approaching, I'm starting to get out some of my warmer dresses. I really love the vintage cut of this dress from Folter Clothing. I actually purchased this from Modcloth, as that seems to be my go to place for vintage cut dresses. I love the wrap design on the bust, although it did need stitching up a bit as it was gaping slightly. The polka dots are also a massive hit with me, as we all know!

I've teamed this dress up with a bright yellow cardigan, and bright blue shoes. I feel that autumn doesn't have to be a season of dark colours! The cardigan is one I have already featured, and the shoes were actually my wedding shoes. I also bought these from Modcloth, unfortunately they are no longer available.

 Outtake: This week Bernie wanted to be in my photos! So here's a cute puppy for you all to squee about.

Librarian Work Wear #3

So this is another heavily biased Modcloth outfit! You'll recognise the Orchid cardigan from my first Librarian Work Wear entry.

The Dress

 This dress is seriously beautiful! I originally purchased this as my "going away" outfit for after the wedding, but I ended up putting it on after all of my guests had left as well, because I needed to be comfy. Seriously, wedding dresses are heavy. This dress is a gorgeous minty shade, and the biggest bonus is that it has POCKETS! Unfortunately, this dress is no longer available at Modcloth, but the brand is Mink Pink, so you might be able to find it somewhere by searching for the brand.

The Shoes

I got these awesome brogues from Clarks for £54.99. I think that's a bargain, as these shoes will definitely last. They are super comfy, with padding inside to cushion your feet. They also come in less snazzy colours, but I have got my eye on the new Wine Red shade! Perfect for autumn.

I've included some bonus dress shots that I took a few days after writing this, as the weather was really nice!
